With a combination of colour and tropically inspired accents, paired with artistic creativity and the reality of those hot summer days, RAS members have created a simmering, exciting exhibition of powerful summer images. The exhibition showcases the magic of Summer in all its glory – warm weather, beach vacations, endless fun, with lots of joy and good humour thrown into the mix. With Christmas just around the corner, you will be sure to find some thing that appeals. Exhibition Dates: Wednesday 24 October to Sunday 18 November 2018 Official Opening: Friday 26 October at 6.00pm – light refreshments, entry free Gallery and Gallery Shop Hours: Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 3pm – entry free Leanne Kelly, Moreton Bay Regional Council Coordinator of Galleries and Museums, will officially open the exhibition on Friday 26 October at 6pm. Guest Printmakers Ellie Neilsen, David Nixon and Glenda Orr will join Malcolm Cassidy and Maureen van der Zalm of Moreton Bay Printmakers for this innovative exhibition curated by John A Robinson. The exhibition is made up of works on paper as well as Artists’ Books. Ellie Neilsen’s limited edition book titled Deezel’s Dragon, which consists of original etchings accompanied by text and is aimed at the younger reader, will be launched at the opening. Glenda Orr presents an inspirational workshop ‘Artist Book for Beginners’ in Studio 1 at the Old Fire Station, Saturday 27 October from 9am to 4pm. Glenda Orr is a multi-award-winning printmaker who also enjoys creating fabricated sculpture and artist’s books. In 2007, Griffith University awarded her the University Medal and First-Class Honours degree in Fine Arts. Subsequently, she has exhibited widely, nationally and internationally, is represented in many collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, curated over a dozen exhibitions and has represented Queensland on the Print Council of Australia. She has been a tutor at Griffith University and ran workshops in printmaking and artist’s books for regional galleries and Impress Printmakers.
